The Jayco Difference
The Jayco Difference
What sets Jayco apart from all the other RV brands in the industry?
Based in Indiana, Jayco was founded in 1968 by couple Lloyd and Bertha Bontrager. Using their creative, entrepreneurial spirit, Lloyd and Bertha’s goal was to make a family dream a reality, by combining their love of adventure and the outdoors with time spent with their family! By 1969, their company had grown to 15 employees and sold 132 camping trailers.
Over the years, designs changed and evolved into a spectacular showing of what outdoor camping and travel trailers would be - ranging in a wide variety of RV campers which include pop-up trailers, towable trailers, fifth wheel trailers, toy haulers and motorhomes!
Since 1968, Jayco has proven time and time again to be a lead brand in the RV industry, providing an exceptional product that is built to last. ‘The Jayco Difference’ is just that - understanding how and why Jayco is so different compared to their competitors when it comes to quality and warranty, which comes from a history of innovation. Jayco has been respected for decades within the RV community, winning more than 77 Quality Circle Awards for achieving the highest possible rating in the Dealer Satisfaction Index (DSI), and other top industry awards.
Jayco RV offers customers the best manufacturer’s warranty in the industry! With a 2+3 year warranty, families are able to get two camping seasons of industry-leading limited warrant coverage and three years of structural protection. Jayco’s two year warranty is twice as long and offers much more coverage than any other manufacturer. That's 24 months, 730 days, or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first. Everything you will need to know about Jayco warrant coverage can be found in each unit’s Owner’s Manual, including a checklist of the maintenance needed to maintain the limited warranty. You can also find your Owner’s Manual digitally, on the Jayco Wingmate App. On the Jayco Wingmate App you will find quick start videos, trip checklists, maintenance checklists, glossary of terms, maintenance tutorials, service, articles discussing the Jayco difference, Owner’s Manuals (current and past), Jaycommand quick start videos, and a program that’s called Jayco University.
Jayco RV motorhomes are fully loaded with an exclusive combination of precise handling and stability technology. It consists of premium shocks and a balance drive shaft, which makes your on-the-road experience one of the best parts of owning an RV. Just like the great technology used for the motorhomes, these 5 and 4 star handling packages for towable trailers combine the latest towing technologies and components to make hauling a travel trailer or fifth wheel smooth and stable. Dexter axles with electric brakes, an advanced pin box, rubberized suspension and so much more, makes our bigger trailers among the most towable.
Jayco offers an exclusive product regarding RV wall construction. Stronghold VBL laminated walls are walls that use vacuum bonding throughout the process to provide the most durable bind between the aluminum frame, fiberglass, metal backers, and interior panels. These laminated walls are bonded for 16 minutes at 144 tons of pressure. This process was designed to offer our owners heavy-duty walls designed for frequent use and travel without weighing down the RV.
As technology advances, Jayco has been proactive in making sure their RV’s advance too. With this being said, Jayco is proud of the Jaycommand Smart RV System that they have created. Jaycommand is a custom system built with exclusive mobile technology that connects you to your unity from just about anywhere - which includes controlling everything in the palm of your hand, making your camping experience simple and easy.
Jayco offers nothing but the best when it comes to the tires they use on their recreational vehicles. American made Goodyear Tires are Jayco’s go to, ensuring the highest quality for safe and comfortable towing and driving. Goodyear Tires have rugged fabric-steel, higher speed rating and greater carrying capacities. Goodyear Tires come standard on almost all units - the only exception being the Luxury fifth wheels and toy haulers, which use Uniroyal Tires (which have a heavier pound max load per tire).
Afraid to walk on the roof of your trailer, without the nervousness of putting your foot through it? That’s not a worry with Jayco trailers! Whether it’s a heavy snowfall, you’re on the roof to clean, or to add or adjust your solar panels, you can be confident that your Jayco trailer can withstand the weight. By using the Magnum Truss Roof System, Jayco trailer roofs are able to withstand up to 4,500 pounds of pressure. The Magnum Truss Roof System is the strongest roof in the industry. Put through rigorous testing, these roof systems withstand 50 percent more weight than the competition.
Did you know that Jayco trailers are made all custom? Unlike many of the competitors who rely on stock frames, every Jayco RV is built on a custom frame, designed and sized specifically to best support each unit. You’ll receive more cross bracing and heavier duty metal used. In all travel trailers, you can expect to see an A-frame made from tubular steel. The A-frame passes through the first cross member and is welded completely around the A-frame (front and rear). This happens to be the strongest frame on the market.
Many campers are huge fans of dry camping - did you know that ALL Jayco travel trailers, fifth wheels, and toy haulers now come either equipped with solar prep or option solar packages? In 2024, all Jayco towables will be coming standard with a solar package. This gives more opportunity for adventure and exploring new locations that campers might not have had the opportunity to, when needing to be bound to shore power - super exciting! The Jayco solar power packages provide varying levels of power and have been tailor-made to offer the most hassle-free, safest and efficient experience possible.
All in all, Jayco RV’s have taken years to research and develop a line of recreational vehicles that exceed expectations in many ways - quality, safety, creative options and add-ons, warranty, technology. The list goes on! There are months of research, development and testing behind the award-winning floor plans and models Jayco has to offer. Jayco is proud to serve North America with one of the best brands and companies in the industry!
In addition to developing and creating some of the best RV’s in North America, Jayco also takes pride in being eco-friendly and are proud of their sustainability efforts through the production of the RV’s at their facilities. Jayco is creating ways to build better RV’s with less waste and more renewable resources. Some sustainable practices Jayco are proud are:
Landfill-free efforts: By relocating recycling bins, diligently educating employees and working with suppliers to reduce packaging, Jayco is working towards becoming landfill-free.
Reduced freshwater use: Jayco continues to reduce freshwater use in the facilities. An example of this is that they use recycled water in all quality control testing.
Sustainable materials: Jayco has an ongoing commitment to working with partners that share similar values and have helped them find ways to reuse materials, improve packaging and source more sustainable components.
Less energy consumption: Facility upgrades, modernized production and standardized processes, have allowed Jayco to use less energy, limit production waste and increase efficiency in their plants.
Jayco hopes that by fostering dialogue and education to RV owners, suppliers and competitors, it will help people recognize the importance of these practices and the positive effects they can have on the environment.
